Location & work modality: Georgia, United States (hybrid)
Start: ASAP
Type of Contract: Full Time / Permanent
About Submer
Submer designs and delivers end-to-end AI datacenter infrastructure built around industry-leading liquid cooling.
We help organizations scale AI beyond the limits of traditional datacenters by enabling higher density, greater efficiency and lower environmental impact – accelerating time-to-AI from first deployment to full production.
What impact you will have
We are seeking a CSA Engineer to lead and deliver all Civil, Structural, and Architectural scopes for a next-generation data center featuring high-density AI/HPC workloads and DLC cooling systems. The role ensures structural integrity, constructability, code compliance, architectural coordination, and seamless integration of CSA works with MEP, IT/OT, equipment installation, and commissioning activities.
What you’ll do
1. Civil & Structural Design Engineering
Develop and review structural designs including foundations, slabs, steel structures, equipment pads, pipe supports, mezzanines, and load-bearing elements.
Perform calculations for gravity loads, seismic, wind, dynamic loads, vibration, and heavy equipment anchoring.
Ensure CSA designs accommodate DLC system requirements such as piping weight, anchor points, and thermal expansion considerations.
Review geotechnical reports, site drainage, grading, retaining structures, and utility routing.
Validate that all CSA design packages meet performance, resilience, and durability requirements.
2. Architectural & Building Systems
Lead architectural design coordination including layouts, fire separations, wall assemblies, and space optimization for high-density computing areas.
Integrate architectural layouts with MEP systems ensuring proper clearances, maintainability, airflow, and equipment access.
Develop specifications for building envelope, roofing, insulation, waterproofing, firestopping, penetrations, and structural openings.
Ensure proper design and sizing of loading docks, staging areas, access routes, and equipment movement paths.
3. Code Compliance & Permitting
Ensure compliance with IBC, NFPA, ASCE, local/state building codes, and AHJ requirements.
Support permitting submissions, inspections, and coordination with authorities.
4. Design Coordination & Multidisciplinary Alignment
Participate in design reviews, clash detection, constructability assessments, and technical workshops.
Coordinate closely with Mechanical and Electrical teams to ensure accurate penetrations, supports, equipment pad design, routing, and architectural integration.
Support Value Engineering and propose optimized solutions without compromising quality or performance.
5. Construction Support & Field Engineering
Provide onsite oversight for CSA works including foundations, steel erection, walls, roofing, fit-out, and architectural finishes.
Review shop drawings, RFIs, method statements, and material submittals.
Conduct inspections for reinforcement, formwork, concrete pouring, steel erection, welding, coatings, waterproofing, and architectural systems.
Oversee trenching, excavation, utility installation, site development, stormwater management, and grading compliance.
6. Commissioning & Turnover (CSA Scope)
Support commissioning readiness checks for CSA components.
Verify equipment anchorage, structural compliance, fire barriers, insulation, door hardware, and egress routes.
Complete CSA punch-lists and ensure readiness for handover with accurate as-built documentation.
7. Risk, Safety & Quality
Lead CSA-related risk identification and mitigation efforts.
Ensure all construction complies with OSHA and industry best practices.
Contribute to QA/QC processes including inspection test plans and quality audits.
What you’ll need
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
7+ years of CSA experience in mission-critical, industrial, or data center environments.
Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, NFPA, ADA, and related standards.
Experience coordinating CSA works with MEP disciplines.
Ability to support fast-track construction environments and resolve field issues efficiently.
Georgia General contractor license
Nice to have
Experience with high-density or AI/HPC data center projects.
Familiarity with DLC system structural/architectural considerations.
Familiarity with Tier standards such as Uptime Institute or TIA-942.
Experience working in overlapping design–construction delivery models.
