About Submer
Submer enables organizations scaling AI to overcome the limits of traditional datacenters across power, compute density and efficiency.
We design and deliver scalable, high-density AI datacenter infrastructure built around industry-leading liquid cooling, supporting everything from early AI deployments to full-scale production environments.
Acting as a full-stack delivery partner, Submer provides advisory, design, build and IT integration through a single point of accountability, working with a deep ecosystem of technology specialists. This end-to-end approach accelerates time-to-AI while reducing operational cost, complexity and environmental impact.
What impact you will have
As a Product Quality Engineer, you will be the quality owner throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept to mass production and during regular business operations stage. You will define the quality strategy, build the validation framework, and ensure that every new product meets the required reliability, safety, and performance standards.
You will interact from the earliest stages of product conceptualization with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and suppliers to embed quality principles into the design, processes, and testing plans. Your work will be essential in scaling products with robust quality foundations, reducing field failures, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
You are the final authority for product quality, validation , and release across the full product lifecycle. You define what “good” looks like and ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and reliability expectations. You will act as quality control in the day-to-day manufacturing process.
What you’ll do
Early Product Concept & Requirements:
• Participate from the very beginning of product conceptualization.
• Translate customer and regulatory requirements into measurable quality and reliability criteria.
• Own risk assessments (DFMEA) and influence design to prevent issues.
• Support Design for Quality, Design for Reliability, and Design for Manufacturability efforts.
Quality Planning & Strategy:
• Build the full Product Quality Plan covering all lifecycle phases.
• Define quality gates from concept → prototype → pilot → industrialization → mass production.
• Establish validation methodologies and acceptance criteria for components, subsystems, and the final product.
• Define control plans, inspection requirements, and product audits.
Prototype, Testing & Validation:
• Plan and execute the validation strategy: mechanical, electrical, functional, stress, environmental, and reliability testing.
• Coordinate testing internally, with suppliers or external certified labs.
• Collect and analyze data to validate product maturity and readiness for the next phase.
• Track issues found during validation, drive root-cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Industrialization & Mass Production Readiness:
• Define product quality requirements, inspection points, and acceptance criteria, while Manufacturing & Process Engineering defines how those controls are implemented in the process.
• Validate pre-series builds, pilot runs, and initial production batches.
• Define and monitor product KPIs: FPY, defect rate, RMA rate, reliability performance.
• Conduct PFMEA and process reviews with suppliers to ensure robustness.
Mass Production:
• Follow the Product quality checks defined during the Industrialization and Mass Production readiness.
• Maintain Quality inspection checklists and records for tracking product quality KPIs
• Amend the Product quality checks, based on manufacturing, supplier and customer feedback
• Liaise with manufacturing and supplier teams to get the product quality observations addressed
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure Product Quality standards if there are any amendments required in Product / Engineering.
Supplier Quality & Collaboration:
• Work with suppliers to define component acceptance criteria, testing protocols, and documentation requirements. Securing defect prevention and continuous improvement of quality activities.
• Own supplier product quality performance, including incoming quality standards, validation evidence, and corrective actions, while collaborating with Manufacturing & Process Engineering on process improvements.
Field Feedback & Continuous Improvement:
• Analyze field returns, customer feedback, and reliability data.
• Lead root-cause analysis using 8D, 5-Why, or Fishbone methodologies.
• Provide product improvement recommendations to Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
• Close the quality loop from field issues back into design and process improvement.
What you’ll need
5+ years in Product Quality Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or NPI Quality roles.
• Experience working across full product lifecycle: concept → NPI → industrialization → mass production.
• Strong background in validation testing, root-cause analysis, and risk assessment.
• Experience collaborating with Engineering teams and influencing design decisions.
• Solid understanding of supplier quality management and industrial environments. Expert-level understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, APQP, PPAP, and validation frameworks.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical product architectures.
• Skilled with testing methods: functional testing, environmental testing, HALT/HASS, reliability predictions.
• Familiarity with statistical tools (SPC, MSA, sampling plans) and problem-solving methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical standards, and regulations.
• Data-driven mindset and strong analytical capability.
• Excellent communication skills, able to interface with engineering, suppliers, and executives.
• Structured, methodical, and detail-oriented approach.
• Strong leadership in cross-functional environments (no direct authority).
• Problem-solving mindset and ownership attitude.
• Ability to manage multiple parallel projects under tight timelines.
