About Submer
Submer enables organizations scaling AI to overcome the limits of traditional datacenters across power, compute density and efficiency.
We design and deliver scalable, high-density AI datacenter infrastructure built around industry-leading liquid cooling, supporting everything from early AI deployments to full-scale production environments.
Acting as a full-stack delivery partner, Submer provides advisory, design, build and IT integration through a single point of accountability, working with a deep ecosystem of technology specialists. This end-to-end approach accelerates time-to-AI while reducing operational cost, complexity and environmental impact.
The result is AI infrastructure that performs today, scales predictably and avoids the redesigns and inefficiencies slowing the market down.
What impact you will have
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and integration of advanced liquid-cooled rack systems for large-scale AI and HPC deployments. This role is pivotal in defining rack-level mechanical architectures supporting high power compute racks, ensuring performance, manufacturability, and serviceability across global data center environments.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in system-level mechanical design and cross-functional collaboration with suppliers and internal product teams.
What you’ll do
Define and lead mechanical architecture development for liquid-cooled racks, including manifolds, server interfaces, and facility connections.
Drive system- and rack-level integration, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, structural, shock/vibration, seismic and reliability targets.
Partner with rack suppliers and internal design teams to co-develop mechanical designs aligned with company standards for performance, usability, and cost.
Perform or coordinate thermal-hydraulic analysis to optimize loop design, flow distribution, and cooling efficiency.
Own CAD design, documentation, and release of mechanical components and assemblies.
Lead engineering validation activities, including test plan creation, prototype builds, and root-cause analysis of design or integration issues.
Conduct design reviews to ensure manufacturability and compliance with mechanical standards and best practices (DFM, DFR, and serviceability).
Collaborate with system architecture, electrical, and manufacturing engineering teams to deliver a balanced and high‑performance rack solution.
What you’ll need
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 7+ years of experience in thermal or mechanical design for high-density electronics or data center systems.
Proficiency in thermal-fluid systems design, mechanical packaging, and system-level integration.
Strong experience with CAD tools (Creo, NX, or SolidWorks) and simulation tools for thermal, flow, or structural analysis (Flotherm, ANSYS, or equivalent).
Proven success collaborating with external rack or cooling solution suppliers, managing specs, reviews, and validation deliverables.
Familiarity with liquid cooling infrastructure in data centers, including CDU, manifold, facility water, and interconnect standards.
Excellent communication and project leadership skills across cross-functional engineering disciplines.
Experience developing high‑power compute rack solutions or liquid cooling architectures in OEM or hyperscale environments.
Knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics as applied to electronic cooling solutions.
Experience with material compatibility, system reliability, and environmental compliance requirements for global deployment.
Hands‑on understanding of prototype build, instrumented testing, and system qualification processes.
Our job titles may span more than one job level. The actual base pay is dependent on a number of factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
What we offer
Attractive compensation package refleting your expertise and experience.
Medical Insurance Plan.
401k Employee volunteer contribution Plan.
A great work environment characterised by friendliness, international diversity, flexibility, and a hybrid-friendly approach.
You´ll be part of a fast-growing scale-up with a mission to make a positive impact, offering an exciting career evolution.
